St. Kitts & Nevis Impoving Its CBI Program

Saint Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Program Becomes More Investor-Friendly

With the Hurricane Relief Fund coming to an end in March 2018 and its considerable success in meeting the expectations, the government of Saint Kitts and Nevis has added two other options to its well-regarded citizenship by investment program.

The Sustainable Growth Fund intended to benefit sectors such as healthcare, education, alternative energy, heritage, infrastructure, tourism, climate change and economic growth, has recently been launched. Under this program, the minimum amount to be invested has been set at $150,000 and $195,000 for single investors and families of four respectively. Additional qualified dependents can be included in the application at $10,0000 each. Government fees should also be paid ($7,500 for the main applicant, and $4,000 for each dependent over the age of 16 years). The Sustainable Growth Fund will be implemented permanently unlike the Hurricane Relief Fund.

The existing real estate option has also undergone changes which entitle two investors to divide the minimum investment amount of $400,000 and contribute $200,000 each (plus government fees). However, they can only put the real estate back on market after seven years. The original real estate option requiring the investment of $400,000 is still open to investors and those resorting to such option can resell their property after five years.

Launched many years ahead of similar programs in Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica and Grenada, the Saint Kitts and Nevis citizenship by investment program is the oldest and one of the best currently implemented programs with broad appeal and an accelerated application process (investors may choose this option under which the application will be adjudicated within 60 days). Saint Kitts and Nevis is largely beholden to its citizenship by investment program for its high economic growth and flourishing real estate in recent years.
